What Is an Intervention?

Do you have a loved one who is addicted to drugs, alcohol, gambling, or smoking? An intervention program could help your loved one escape the grips of denial, rationalization, and projection.

An intervention is an orchestrated attempt by family and friends to get a family member, friend, or loved one to seek help for an addiction or other similar problems. When one has tried everything possible to inspire or convince their loved one that they need help, but they will not admit into a program, an addiction intervention program is a successful tool in helping you help your loved one escape from the grips of denial, rationalization and projection.

By approaching them from a place of love and compassion, with help facilitated by a addiction interventionist, you will be helping them understand the problem that they have and that a treatment program is needed. Using a professional interventionist will not only ensure that you have taken the appropriate approach, but will also give you peace of mind knowing that you have expressed your love and concern in a professional, impacting, and very effective manner.

Addiction Intervention Process

An intervention is a very strategic process that must be facilitated and properly executed by an addiction intervention specialist to ensure desired results. In order to effectively perform a substance intervention, an intervention team will be established and then thoroughly prepared with the information required for attaining success. All parties involved will understand the purpose, process and techniques of the intervention.

  4. My sister is 31 years old.
She is addicted to meth and I am pretty sure heroin.
She has been addicted for 3 or so years now and has given up on everything.
She has two daughters who she just walked out on for the drugs! She was in and out of jail and everytime she said she would get better but she goes back to drugs.
She had her nursing assistance certificate and was going places until she started the drugs.
It’s torn our family apart. She is not who she used to be.
We don’t want her to die!! She is young and beautiful and we know she has potential but she is addicted.
    Please help us.
    Pleaseee.
    We want her back !

  6. I have a very close friend that is an alcoholic. He has been drinking since he was 16, now 35. He’s had jobs in his life growing up but hasn’t worked for the past 3 years. He has a nursing associate degree but the drinking has caused pancreatitis issues so his last job 3 years ago let him go and he hasn’t worked since. He has drank so much that last summer he had a seizure due to trying to stop drinking around one of my friends. His brain is numb to the drinking causing him to appear normal to other people, even though he drinks a fifth of vodka a day and goes through a half gallon of vodka about 2-3 days. He has turned yellow and had clay colored poop due to his bilirubin being too high to where he almost died if it weren’t for going to the hospital a few months ago. He can not afford his house payment anymore or his car payment. He can not afford to lose his life. He is so smart and intelligent but his health is very important. His kidneys, pancreas, and liver are dying due to his drinking. He’ll leave outings like Christmas dinner, thanksgiving, 4th of July, bowling, etc early because of being too tired from the alcohol or anxious from not having a drink. When we went bowling, he staggered walking in. We got 3 frames in and we had to leave because of him not being able to stand up in the alley. I had to hold him up to walk him out to the car. He also has depression and anxiety due to the drinking making him sad and anxious. He also has ocd but his drinking stopes him from cleaning and taking care of himself the way he should. He can barely drive or function enough to take his pills daily if he gets too tired from drinking. He can’t go anywhere without his drink because of starting to show withdrawal symptoms within an hour of not having an alcoholic beverage such as his vodka. He wakes up super early in the morning around 4-5 a.m after going to bed at 9-10 p.m because of waking up from the withdrawal symptoms. His body jolts a lot until he has a drink. If we can’t get him to stop drinking, he’ll die at a very young age. We want him to be able to get a job and to stop drinking. Somehow we need to stop the habit or were going to lose him very soon. He was the captain of his hockey team, played football, and was an honors student in his nursing classes. He has a twin sister that loves and worries about him. He also has a brother that cares a lot about him as well as his entire family. He has tried rehabs around here but He needs something extreme that’ll push this habit away. His health insurance doesn’t cover the type of place he needs. He needs a place with some one on one and to be around people that want to get better, not just teenagers that are only there to mess around. He has great potential! He needs an intervention because he’s hurting his loved ones but himself even more. We do not want to lose him. Please, please help.

  7. I have a 41y/o daughter that has abandoned her 6 y/o daughter who has Golden Har Syndrome, Scholiosis, Tortacolis, and is totally deaf. She is blind in one eye. The child is extremely bright considering she has all these medical issues and a mother that doesn’t want the responsibility of raising her. My daughter is addicted to meth and has been for about 3 years. Her. daughter was taken away by CPS and the paternal grandmother adopted her, but she expired in Nov 2019.A 25 y/o Uncle is taking care of her at this time. I am the maternal gm and I am disabled and unable to care for the child alone. She can stay with me as long as someone is here to help with her. My daughter has no insurance at all. I know the town she is in but have no clue as to who she stays with. She will not contact me at all. The last I saw my daughter was Xmas of 2019. Her daughter was at my home when her mother was. This little girl is in dire need of a descent upbringing. she is extremely strong and angry at her mother , so she does act out at times . that is why I cannot keep her alone. For the last 2 months she has lost her mother and Her Paternal GM. So she’s got to be angry or something . My daughter needs to get some severe help and runs when I try to help her. I have tried 3 times to get her in a rehab and when they would get a bed she would run.I am lost and don’t know what to do. This is a nightmare, it is like something you would see on tv. or in newspapers. She has been in jail 3X and the dad is on his 2nd round in prison. (Nice bunch isn’t it)if it were’n’t for my belief in Christ I couldn’t survive this. if anyone can help with this pleas contact me. I appreciate all.
    GOD BLESS
